Hi all,
It is that time again. As many of you know, I write this blog out of a passion, bordering on obsession, with our Seahawks. It makes me happy to research, to write, and to meet new people along the way. I have a full-time job that allows me to take care of my family, so this was never about money. For a long time, I did not want to take any money from advertisers or other methods because it I did not need it. Then it occurred to me…the money did not have to go to me. I could raise money for charity by running my blog as a business. That was back in 2012. Four years later, I am proud to announce that through all of your patronage, we will make a record donation of $15,000 to Ben’s Fund!! That raises our four year total to over $25K.
Blog traffic has grown exponentially this year, in large part, thanks to your sharing of my content on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and elsewhere. We have also enjoyed being featured regularly on Bleacher Report.
This has helped to drive revenue from the ads you see on the pages, and also better sponsorships, like those from Verizon, Tide, and others.
The site will be moving to a new location this offseason, which I believe will help it grow even more.
Ben’s Fund was chosen as our preferred charity because my youngest son has special needs, and the work Traci and John Schneider are doing in the community with Ben’s Fund is wonderful. It has been a pleasure getting to know them over the years. They are fantastic people, and I am proud to have them as part of the team I love so dearly.
They hold an annual fundraising event in April or May. I have made additional donations at that event for the past few years. This year, I will donate all of the 2015 HawkBlogger.com revenue and much more. I will be sure to report back once that happens, but I wanted to thank all of you for a terrific 2015.
