Coach Pete Carroll revealed today that MLB Bobby Wagner, C Max Unger, and TE Zach Miller will all miss Sunday’s game in St. Louis due to injuries.
Miller is still a week away from fully recovering from a small ankle procedure he had during the bye week. Unger is dealing with a sprained foot and may be healthy by next week. Wagner will miss “a few weeks,” per Carroll, because of turf toe.
Carroll said the turf toe injury Wagner has may be similar to the one that Russell Okung suffered last year. They’re taking a “wait and see” approach for the time being.
Silver linings: Byron Maxwell is healing “faster than expected” but will still probably miss Sunday’s game. Tharold Simon is practicing this week and could start in Maxwell’s place if he’s ready. KJ Wright has played middle linebacker plenty of times in this defense. Brock Coyle will see more time as a rotational player, and he’s flashed massive potential.
I’m not expecting there to be much drop-off at MLB, but Malcolm Smith hasn’t played much this season and Bruce Irvin has been downright maddening at times with his failure to wrap up on tackles.
Either way, this is a very banged-up group going into Week 7 on both sides of the ball.
