The Seahawks have announced today that they’ve signed LB K.J. Wright to a 4-year, $27M extension through 2018, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Wright has had a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2014, so far racking up 96 tackles and two sacks. He stepped in at middle linebacker when Bobby Wagner went down for several weeks, and has remained an every-down player in the team’s loaded defense.
The move shows how committed the Seahawks’ front office is to keeping its core talent locked in place for the long haul. Wright was scheduled to hit the open market this spring, but there was clearly no way that was going to happen.
