Hawk Blogger Charitable Donations Top $285K

I started this blog in 2007 with a simple goal of finding people who shared my outsized passion for the Seattle Seahawks. Eighteen years later, I made the decision to turn this into my full-time job. A non-negotiable aspect of that decision was to keep charity and giving as a core part of what we do. Today, I am pleased to announce that HawkBlogger.com is making an additional $20,000 in charitable donations, bringing the 2024 total to $25,000, and the grand total over the life of this work to $285,000.

The majority of our donations through the years have been to Ben’s Fund. This year, we decided to spread the love and piggy back on the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats initiative that allows players to pick a charity to champion by wearing custom cleats designed for their cause.

Four Seahawks were selected to each have $5,000 donated to their cause.

Mike Macdonald

Macdonald picked the RYR-1 Foundation, which does research on rare diseases. His nephew as a rare form of muscular dystrophy that the foundation is working on.

Macdonald is in his first year as a head coach, and first year living on the west coast. He has already made an impact on this Seahawks team and organization, and we hope to help him make an impact beyond the field with a $5,000 donation to the RYR-1 Foundation. Please consider adding on here.

Geno Smith

Smith chose a charity run by his mother, Tracey Sellers, called Extended Hands Inc. Extended Hands provides a wide range of programs and services to empower families, strengthen communities, and change lives. That includes providing food, clothing, and necessities like diapers to those in need.

We are excited to support Extended Hands Inc, and hope you consider supporting them as well by donating here.

Julian Love

Love chose just1mike as his cause. The foundation works to help prevent sudden cardiac arrest in children by sponsoring free EKG testing and awareness programs. Love selected this cause as he played football with the older brother of the charity’s namesake, and wants to spread awareness and support the family’s work.

It is our pleasure to donate $5,000 to just1mike. You can add your donation to the cause here.

Derick Hall

Hall has a remarkable story of beating the odds a premature baby who was given a 1% chance to live. He chose the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at the hospital he was born, Gulfport Memorial Hospital, as his cause.

We hope our $5,000 donation will help add more Derick Hall’s to the world. You can support the NICU here. Be sure to select the NICU Fund in the drop-down.

Interviews

I was able to grab Smith, Love, and Hall for a quick conversation about each of their causes and their cleat designs. You can watch that video here.

Chasing $1M

We would love to eventually donate $1M to charity through our work at HawkBlogger. That will require a mix of longevity and growing our blog, our shows and our business.

You can support what we are doing by becoming a patron at Patreon.com/HawkBlogger, becoming a YouTube member, or joining as a sponsor. You can also help by simply reading, watching, clicking the Like button, and spreading the word.

This would not be possible without the amazing team of people who have committed their time, free of charge, to our YouTube shows and to this blog.

Evan Hill, Jeff Simmons, Nathan Ernst, Dayna O’Gorman, Josh Cashman, Deryck Gebby, and Treyton Cole have made even the toughest Seahawks seasons a pleasure. I could not do this without them.

I would also like to thank our sponsors: Ryan Cleveland Coaching, Pagliacci Pizza, JK Boots, and FTN Fantasy. I would also like to thank all our patrons and YouTube members. All of this support makes donations like this possible.

If you would like to learn more about the money side of what we are doing here at HawkBlogger since I made this my full-time gig, you can watch a video I posted here where I share more details about my philosophy.

Thank you to everyone who continues to read, watch, and share our content. The Seahawks are building a championship team one day at a time, and we plan to be there every step of the way.
