Seattle placed Price on injured reserve and elevated a corner who once had 11 interceptions in a season

Seattle placed running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve with a chest injury, ending any chance he plays Sunday. The team signed running back Velus Jones Jr. off the practice squad to fill the roster spot.

Jones Jr. is the third running back behind Emanuel Wilson and George Holani, and a return option. In 2025 he played one regular season game for Seattle, 4 carries for 32 yards. His NFL career has mostly been on kickoffs. With New Orleans in 2025, he returned 5 kickoffs for 134 yards against Buffalo in Week 4, a long of 30.

Seattle also elevated cornerback Trevon Diggs and safety Maxen Hook. Diggs, a former Dallas corner, had 11 interceptions and 21 passes defensed for the Cowboys in 2021. He played 8 games for Dallas last season, then 1 for Green Bay plus a playoff game. Sunday is his first game as a Seahawk.

If Ladd McConkey plays, one piece of history is worth knowing. As Dallas's corner in 2025, Diggs covered McConkey for 7 snaps in Week 16. McConkey caught both his targets for 28 yards, a small sample.

Zach Charbonnet was designated to return from the physically unable to perform list on Oct. 1. His 21-day practice window is open, but he is not eligible to play Sunday.

The Chargers elevated tight end Patrick Herbert, Justin Herbert's younger brother, and linebacker Caleb Murphy. Herbert comes up with starting tight end Charlie Kolar ruled out.

Five things to watch Sunday

1Seattle has no settled lead back. With Price on injured reserve and Charbonnet still not eligible to play, the carries split between Emanuel Wilson and George Holani, and the snaps have gone back and forth week to week. It's an open question who ends up with the bigger role. More on what kind of back Wilson is below.

2Trevon Diggs makes his Seahawks debut after years with Dallas. If Ladd McConkey plays, the two have a bit of history: Diggs covered him for 7 snaps in 2025, and McConkey caught both his targets for 28 yards. A small sample worth watching, not a trend.

3Jim Harbaugh takes the visiting sideline in Seattle for the first time since December 2014, when his 49ers lost at Lumen Field 17 to 7. His record there is 1 and 4. More below.

4Seattle has not played at home since beating New England in Week 1. It won at Arizona and lost at Washington in between. A home crowd is back for the first time in three weeks.

5With Price on injured reserve and Charbonnet still on the physically unable to perform list, Seattle's carries are a two-man split. Wilson has 32 carries this season to Holani's 15, but the offensive snaps have swung week to week: Holani led Week 1, and Wilson has led the two games since. Velus Jones Jr., signed Saturday, is the third back and a return threat.

The Chargers' rookie center is grading like a problem

The Chargers spent a second round pick on their center. Three games into his rookie season, the tape and the numbers agree on something Los Angeles would rather not hear.

05Seattle's backfield

Emanuel Wilson's role could grow Sunday. Who is he?

Price is on injured reserve and Charbonnet still isn't eligible. The back getting the ball doesn't fumble and rarely loses yards, but he doesn't break many tackles either.

Darnold has a real history against the way the Chargers cover

The Chargers play more two-high shells and less man coverage than almost anyone. Sam Darnold's own history against those looks says the matchup isn't quite what it seems.

Harbaugh, Macdonald and a Chargers team that has seen this defense before

Jim Harbaugh has coached in Seattle before, and it mostly went badly. Justin Herbert has faced a Mike Macdonald defense exactly once, and lost.
